  • Helping Hands at first english

Helping Hands at First English Lutheran Church is a non-profit food pantry. We are community serving community, and we welcome anyone who is in need.

We are looking for donations again this fall/winter for blankets, sleeping bags, tarps, tents, warm clothes, heavy coats, boots, gloves, stocking caps, hand warmers, etc. If you have any of these items or other things you think we might be able to use, please let us know & we can take them off your hands!! Helping Hands at First English would be so grateful- as well as all the folks that will receive these blessings. If you prefer to donate monetarily, that’s very much appreciated as well and will go twice as far since we are in a matching funds campaign with Town Pump until the end of November! So for every $50 donated, it turns in to $100 for us to purchase any of these items as well as FOOD, since we know lots of folks are struggling now & it’s looking like it will only get worse in the coming weeks.

Thanks so much for helping out in whatever way possible- even a tiny thing like sharing this information to your friends and family will be a huge help as well.

  • Great Falls Community Food Bank

    FEEDING OUR MOST VULNERABLE NEIGHBORS
Hunger exists in our community. You may not see it. But it's here-in our schools, in our neighbors' homes and in our workplaces. And hunger most adversely affects our most vulnerable residents-children, uneducated adults, the elderly and the handicapped. We serve as a warehouse distribution center for more than 70 emergency food providers (501(c)3 charities) in and around Cascade County to alleviate that hunger. We are a vital organization that eases the burden on these vulnerable neighbors–giving them a chance to look for work, pay for vital meds instead of food, and/or study/learn on a full stomach. We stabilize lives and make a difference in North Central Montana.

COLLABORATIVELY WORKING TOGETHER TO FIGHT HUNGER
Our mascot, Dash is a squirrel, representing our mission--collecting and storing food through donations, grocery recovery, and bulk purchasing. This allows us to provide food for our partner organizations, including pantries, schools, churches and group homes, so they in turn can distribute food to hungry children, seniors and parents. We also provide weekend meals for underprivileged school children K-6 through our Backpacks4Kids Program.

  • Great Falls Rescue Mission

At Great Falls Rescue Mission, we meet needs lovingly, and provide spiritual guidance to help the homeless find a purpose and a place to belong. For those who are hungry, homeless, or in need, Great Falls Rescue Mission serves as a Beacon of Hope and renewal. We are committed to meet the spiritual, physical and mental needs of men, women and children.

Great Falls Rescue Mission meets the basic needs of hurting and homeless men, women, and children with food and a clean, safe place to sleep.

In 2023, we provided 65,023 nights of shelter for men, women, and children. We offer cold weather services during the winter months when the elements are life threatening and the temperature is 32 degrees or below.  Individuals can stay in our shelters overnight, regardless of their circumstances. Cold Weather Services for Great Falls Rescue Mission Men’s & Women’s Shelters are in effect when the weather feels like 32 degrees or below from 10:00pm to 7:00am.

During the day, if the weather is extremely cold and it feels like the temperature drops below 15 degrees, individuals may remain inside the building as long as they maintain a respectful attitude, follow the rules and check in any bags with the front desk. If individuals choose to leave the building after breakfast then they cannot come back until 10:00pm. All for the safety of the hundreds of people that we are serving on a daily basis.

We have all sorts of fun toys and equipment for a variety of ages and stages.

    What We Do
Peace Place was created in 2011 by two moms who understood firsthand the need, rarity, and benefit of respite care. Peace Place Respite Care is a ministry of First Presbyterian Church, and is housed in the East wing of the church, facing 14th St. and the Paris Gibson Art Museum. The space was graciously donated by the church, and volunteers donated labor and time to turn it into a kid-friendly space. In addition to the room upstairs, Peace Place also has access to the preschool rooms in the basement, including a large gym as well as an indoor playscape. We are licensed by the state of Montana and staffed by wonderful caregivers who are certified in First Aid, CPR, AED usage, and Safe Sleep practices.
